What the pod is designed for
The pod is designed for removable dental appliances that are safe to submerge in water: clear aligners, retainers, night guards, mouth guards, dentures and other removable appliances. That is the scope of the product — it is not a clearance for one particular appliance. Whether ultrasonic cleaning suits yours depends on its material and its fittings, which is something the person who made or fitted it knows and we do not.
Nothing goes in that is fixed in your mouth, that cannot be submerged, or that contains electronics or batteries.
- Retainers Check your appliance Retainers differ — some are a single piece of plastic, some have bonded or embedded wire. Ask whoever fitted yours before ultrasonic cleaning.
- Clear aligners Check your appliance The trays come out, so the question is the material rather than the fit. Your aligner provider's care sheet governs — check it before ultrasonic cleaning.
- Night guards Check your appliance These run from rigid to soft-lined, and a soft lining is the part worth asking about. Check with whoever made yours.
- Mouth guards Check your appliance Different makers use different materials, so the cleaning instructions that came with yours are the ones to follow.
- Dentures Check your appliance Dentures vary widely in what they are made from, and in what has been done to them since. Ask your dental provider before ultrasonic cleaning.
- Other removable dental appliances Check your appliance It has to be removable, and it has to be safe to submerge in water. Anything fixed in your mouth, anything with electronics or batteries, and anything your provider has told you to keep dry is outside what this device is for.
If you are not certain, check the cleaning instructions that came with your appliance, or ask whoever made or fitted it, before you use an ultrasonic cleaner on it.
